i think its a combo of glads and platemail, being that platemail will be used more and more to reduce elemental dmg

Anyway some people think that they raised the interest to use a knight armour but they are wrong. Anet totally killed it with that reduce restricted to physical damage...

Sentinel if you're more into the strength thing, dreadnaughts/platemail will be nice because of the 90 unconditional armour level, and gladiators will be 2nd used because of its energy, and then about legionnaire's it's near same as platemails, just pointless in my opinion

Here's the armor info from the "Art of Tanking" article.....
Berserker's Armor
Healthbonus with each piece
80 Base AL (+20 versus physical)
Dragon's Armor (other variants include: Wyvern, Platemail, Dreadnought's)
90 Base AL (+10 versus physical)
Gladiator's Armor
Energybonus with each piece
80 Base AL (+20 versus physical)
Knight's Armor (other variants include: Ascalon Armor)
Damage Reduction with each piece (-2, not stacking)
80 Base AL (+20 versus physical)
Legionnaire's Armor
80 Base AL (+20 versus physical, +10 while in a stance)
Sentinel's Armor
100 Base AL
-20 AL when your strength is below 13
Warrior's Armor (other variants include: Ringmail, Soldier's, Chainmail, Recruit's)
80 Base AL (+20 versus physical)
*****
On Legionnaire's Armor, is the +10 while in a stance, +10 to overall AL or just +10 versus physical? If it's +10 overall, I would think that Legionairre's would be the preferred armor of Stance Tanks everywhere.

+10 armour in stance, thus if you're in a stance you have 90 base armour level... (base meaning vs all) how ever, you'd have to be in a stance heavy build for this armor to even be of use, which is why i really think it's pointless, just get platemail :| how ever, if you do use stance heavy builds constantly then yes do use it...

Best overall play armor seems to have become multiple sets for particular occasion or farming spot.
The nerf seems like a money sink to cause need for multiple sets of armor for different builds. So....... we get a whopping 1 stack storage expansion for supplies!?

I'll gladly equip a Zealous weapon and put Flurry on my bar if it means I can use an armour with 110 AL vs. physical and 90 AL vs. elemental. Although, I already do that.

Agreed. Legionaires is my favorite. I'm more worried about what shield I'm going to use now. That-2/-2 shield I have just isn't the same anymore.... Maybe I'll have to give in and use Racthoh's Wammo Spider Farmer build so it'll get used!

heres what im thinking... (darn i gotta get a whole new set of 15k)
head: corresponding weapon helm
chest: dreadnought (90 armor one)
legs: same as above
feet and arms: glad set
i would get a piece of knights but since damage reduction is kind of useless now since its all against physical (honestly warriors already have 100 al [including +20 vs physical bonus] against physical already, damage reduction against physical seems like overkill). time to try to get some gold to buy some armor...

Right ON!,
Zealous and 15% Damage While in stance, 2 best things that were ever implemented to the word weapon,
**edit** sides in gvg battles, most tanks should always have frenzy imo, best stance created for warrior, and of course the useful sprint to cancel it out, legionaire is pretty nice

Chest = gladiator

arms=stoneskin
feet = platemail
That is an all round armor group so you only need to have different head pieces.
Personally i have one chest and leggings health ,and a chest leggings energy.

for PvE, legionaire would be the ideal choice if you have flurry in your skill bar, that kind of a bonus is great all round protection.
With the new updates its very difficult to have a single piece for all conditions and most will now need mutiple sets rather than just the one.
I haven't decided which is the best but for all round armour Platemail (+associated alternative names) would be the ideal choice but all my colleagues are using the following setups:
PvP Shocker
Head: Axe mastery helm (usually Executioner's)
Chest: Sentinel
Arms: Stoneskin
Legs: Sentinel
Boots: Sentinel
Axe: 16
Strenght: 13
Air: 3
Other:
Head: Weapon Attribute Base Helm
Chest: Platemail
Arms: Platemail (Alternative Config: Stoneskin or Glads)
Legs: Platemail
Boots: Platemail (Alternative Config: Glads)
These setups may not be in the interest of everyone but these are just the responses I got, I myself haven't decided on any replacements yet since 15k armour is very expensive I'm going to wait it out a bit longer before I decide.
